Some call her Kim, some Kimberly, for me it’s girlfriend. Whatever floats your boat works for my good friend Kim Kardashian. You either love or hate her, but it’s undeniable that she has created an enormously successful empire for herself and her family. She might not have the voice of Celine or Hough-ranked dance moves, but her talent is obvious in that she has turned herself into a lifestyle, a beauty trend, a generational marker.
If you are looking to hate on Kim Kardashian, you will find material that tickles your fancy literally everywhere. Whether it’s a grocery store in west-bumheck, or your mom’s old-lady gym down the street. She is rich and beautiful, which attracts angry people that see something in her that is not appearing in themselves.
But this post isn’t to hate on her haters. Hopefully one day your shrink will be able to pinpoint what it is exactly that makes you have so much hatred towards America’s royal family. Kim would want me to focus on the more important things in life: herself.
From her sex tape with beefcake Ray-J to her recent pursuit of a career in law, Kim Kardashian has been living her fabulous life in front of a camera crew (and I’m here for it). Her relationship with sisters Kourtney and Khloe makes my world go round, and also talks me off the ledge whenever I think that I have a weird family. With their shockingly inappropriate behavior and disgustingly extravagant lifestyles, how can you not be addicted to keeping up?
Kimmy has been facing a lot of hate recently, triggered by her decision to pursue a career in law. First of all, I call bull. In today’s society that is male-oriented and has proved to punish anyone that is not a straight, white dude from the suburbs of Connecticut, it’s important that we support any and every woman that attempts to make a name for herself in the world of careers.
So she made a sex tape with her then-boyfriend — so what? Was Ray J punished for this? I’m no rap expert but it seems like he has lived a prosperous life due to an extremely successful career. Before you start to write her off because of her past life decisions, realize that her capability as a lawyer has everything to do with her skills and knowledge in this area and nothing to do with her sexuality or the life that she publicly leads with her family.
To end this rant, I’ll just say this: Kim Kardashian isn’t perfect and this is what makes her so refreshing. She has a past, like all of us. Her husband has opinions that I frankly don’t agree with. I’m not even saying that I would want her as my lawyer. But at the end of the day, she has made more money than I could ever imagine. She’s made a life for her family and whether it’s negatively or positively, the Kardashians are talked about all over the world.
These are just some thoughts as I eat ramen on my couch in my parents home, growing couch sores and living like the grandparents in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Kimmy — keep bringing the content and I’ll keep keeping up.
